on a 96 surburban 4x4. friend said something about the camshaft to crank position sensor? what's the down side if i dont replace besides the SES light on? thanks. oh are they are to replace?

Have you had the distributor out? You can get that code if the distributor has been moved and the base timing is incorrect or needs to be reset. Usually requires a scan tool to adjust the base timing.

nah just recently came on. bout a yr ago we had the motor out for a rebuild but that was that the dealer. could it just be a bad sensor?

I would go through the procedure for setting the base timing before I would just randomly throw parts at it.
