Default Need Tuning Help

I finally got my car together but have serious problems with the tune. The car will start and idle but seems to search for a while before it finally smooths out. As soon as I start to open the throttle, the car will die. This is the first car I have ever tuned and have no idea where to start making changes. I don't want to kill the engine messing with stuff without some directions from someone that knows what they are doing. The engine is an LS1 with 90MM intake and throttle body, 224/228, 581/588, 113+2 cam. Injectors flow 42lb at 58psi. The engine is in an 84 Monte Carlo with a 200-4R tranny so the PCM doesn't control anything on the transmission.
If I post my tune, can someone look at it and give me some direstions on where to start making changes?

Default Tuning

Hey man, get that dog tuned, I'm waiting for my ride!!! Did ya get all the fuel leaks fixed? Still haven't had time to figure out how to tune. Hoping tommorrow I can get out and measure my tire hight so I can get my speedo calibrated right. Sounds like you went and bought some software. In my opinion, thats the best thing to do if your going to be doing a lot of mods over time. Sorry can't help with ideas yet. Good luck. Jim

Hey, did you go to that auction out in Gumlog? Guy had a bunch of old 60's impallas and malibus for auction. I was busy recouping from night at the casinos.

I didn't even know about it or I would have gone. My uncle lives in Gumlog. I'll ask him about it.

I'll probably have to call you for advise sometime, if you don't mind. I finally decided to take the plunge and learn how to do this myself. I intend to keep the car and since I seem to change **** all the time, I need to learn to do my own tuning.

IFRs not right. Whats with the VE table on the high end? Base running airflow doesnt look right for your cam. Looks stock. VE table looks unchanged other then the 95 Kpa and up. COT is still enabled, PE looks wacked.
Read the help files in the editor, and follow the directions to set it up and tune it in SD. That will get the VE tab le close to right, and should solve alot of the driveability issues. Also, log the airflow @ idle, and enter those #s in thew base running airflow. Make sure your IAC counts are somewhere between 40 and 100 @ idle, and the TPS is 0% @ idle.
Change the VE table back to stock and start from there. Get the IFR numbers correct before you do any other tuning.

That was just a base tune to get the car started, this pcm already had some changes when he brought it to me. We never got to get on the road cause the fuel regulator was leaking at a fitting. As for the IFR, he has a vaccum referenced regulator.

OK. I understand the IFR table then, but whats with the VE table up top? That'll make it gag on fuel if tries to stall, and the manifold vacuum dips. Thats one of the first things that should be cleaned up. It'll help keep it from stalling if the idle oscillates.
Theres some other stuff that should be set differently even for a start up tune.
Ok now I'm confused. You say it had changes already made before he brought it to you, but in your post from early this morning, you stated you wish you could read HPT, and good luck to him. and then in another post you told him to shoot you a pm? So, have you worked on this car or not? not that it makes a dif, just confused.

LOL, yeah he brought it to me before he bought HP, and when I posted this morning I was about half asleep cause I was up with the young one, and I forgot I had his file on my laptop. All we got to do was set the IFR and changed a few things on startup airflow, rev-limiter, and thats about it. I was just trying to make it safe on the VE up top for when we went out on the road. I just flashed one in to see if it would start cause he had not fired the new combo, and it ended up that the FPR was spewing all over and we only started it but once. I was planning on doing an AutoVE but never got that far with it. Sorry for the confusion....lol.
