Default timing question

hey guys,i'm reading different threads on what a stock ls1 will take on timing. my stock b4c camaro will only take 26 degrees showing on ls1 edit and would not take any more.i'm reading on a stock motor this is about right being stock, but with headers or a cam it will take more.anyone with a stock motor running 29 degrees? just put in a 160 thermostat but not sure if it will take more timing and if it's worth it.

The only way to get "proper timing" involves spending a lot of time and effort on a dyno adding and reducing timing to see it's affect on torque. That being said a lot of combos run well with 26~27 degrees total timing.
