Default question regarding running wires through firewall on 01' Z

just trying to run a power and a ignition wire from passenger compartment to engine compartment, somewhere though the firewall on passenger side since the computer is on that side. let me know thanks. the car is a 2001 z28.

There is a rubber plug right below the computer. You can cut a slit in it and run your wires there. Just make sure the rubber plug is seated properly so that there is no chance of the wires chaffing on the metal.

BTW: You'll need to take the computer out to do this. I ran a string through the hole and left it so in case I want to run a wire in the future I can just "fish" it.

You could probably get power from the fuse panels...or run something off of the battery...might be a better way on these cars...but 12 volts is 12 volts...wether it comes from the battery or not...as far as an ignition hot...it would probably be best from the fuse panel...

I've done both for power (fuse box and direct from battery terminal). Really depends on what I'm using it for and whether I need 12V hot all the time or just with ignition on.
