Default tuning the car for 100 octane.

Hey guys i am wondering if it will be worth it to tune my car for 100 octane. The car is around 11.7 on the compression and runs fine on pump gas but it will be mainly for drag racing. I am putting a th350 in it now and i will be spraying up to a 200 shot before its all said and done. Do you think there is much power to be found by doing this? I know it will help fight off detonation once i spray the car but when i run NA i wonder if its worth it. What kind of results have you seen ? thanks guys Charles

If a car runs good on lower octane pump gas, then raising the octane will always slow the car down.
To take advantage of higher octane you have to speed the burn rate up to match the fuel, otherwise you will make less power.
Some people think it's as easy as just increasing the spark advance, but it's not.

thanks for the reply. I know about the power loss in most cases but i figured with my car being so close to 12 to 1 i could add some timing and possibly make more power.

Leave the pump gas tune in, but use a separate reservoir for the N2O shot. The 100 octane should alleviate the timing reduction normally necessary with spray.

I agree, but I'd use 112 octane or better for the N2O reservoir.
