Default LC-1 programming

I'm wiring my lc-1 to use in place of my stock narrow band. My question is, when I set output rates for the wideband and narrow band side, does the unit need to be hooked up to the car and hptuners? Reason I'm asking is my laptop doesn't have a serial port, so it would be easier if I could just take the lc1 in the house and connect to the serial port on my desktop.

Also, I have not connected anything yet (everything is still new in the box). So calibration has not been done. Should I do that first?

Okay, I've been reading on innovative's forum, and it appears that I do need it hooked up to the car so it has power to turn on. No one ever said so specifically, but it makes sense. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, the LC-1 has to be powered (either from your vehicle, or from a 12V battery outside your vehicle).
