Default How can I test my OBDII connector?

Alright, not sure if my connector is working properly, cant really move the car to get it scanned and dont know anyone with a scanner. How would I be able to test the obdII connector on my 96 Z28. Not sure which pins are the only ones being used on my car and not sure which ones to test.

Guessing I need to test for power to the connector, ground, and somehow the wire that transmits the data from the pcm. And if one is not working, guess i gotta check my wiring.

I have a volt/ohm meter.

Any help appreciated.

www.obdii.com/connector.html If you don't have voltage from ground to pin 16 first thing to check is the fuse that powers the DLC port.

Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 6 - CAN High (J-2284)
Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Line
Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L Line
Pin 16 - Battery Power

says GM Cars - J1850 VPW -- The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, and 16, but not 10.

I'd check for power first. If that's OK maybe pull a fuse for something non-essential (like the air pump assuming you still have it) if the SES isn't on, try a few cycles and see if it throws a code? Don't know how to test it for reading data without a scan tool.

You mean like between 5 & 16? I can go out and check my car but don't know if it's the same.
