Default Plugged in HP Tuners Cord and it got HOT!

I was going to download by bin file to be changed for my new 4l80e. I plugged in my hp tuners cord to my computer access plug on drivers side. I noticed a spark when trying to plug into computer...hmm...cord got hot.
Anyone ever had this happen. Its a short somewhere..either the cord is bad(prly not) or the connecter is somehow wired wrong..hmm.
Any ideas?

Did you plug the cable into our interface or did you run the obd2 cable directly to your laptop?

Dunno what setup you've got but I blew out a serial port with
my old cable, in conjunction with a cig lighter Y adapter and a
wideband meter and an inverter running the laptop power supply.
The inverter was being bounced by the truck dipping below 10V
and cutting the inverter in and out. Tying sensors and power
supplies and so on together, can make ground loops / offsets
and they could be pretty "stiff" (plenty of current behind that
spark).

Bottom line is, try not hooking up a bunch of stuff all at once
and run the laptop off battery where possible. Though keep
it fresh if you're flashing.
