recently my service engine soon light went on . it doesent come on all the time but it comes on most of the time . anyone know what it could be . my car has 24 thousand miles and change and seems to run fine. dont want to rush to the dealer , i dont think they will like my NOS dry kit .i was hoping maybe it automaticaly goes on when you hit a certain mileage . ANYONE?

Wait until its on and have it scanned. Sounds like an intermentent problem.With OBDII if a componet is malfunctioning but the problem corrects itself, after a certain # of drive cycles the SES light will turn itself off.

thanks ss rally red . i will see if my freinds scanner can work on my car . anyone else have any suggestions ?

autozone can scan the codes off for you for free. just an idea if your friends dosn't work

thanks kgsloan . i will try my friends shop today . if he doesnt have the right scanner i will try autozone. does anyone have any idea what it could be ?

if it comes on and off my guess would be egr valve, well if you have a 98-00 or an o2 sensor. i see that code thrown the most when it comes on and off. is it on steady or a flash?

i took the car ( it is a 2002 z28) to a freinds shop . he put it on the scanner and it said low catalyst i belive , im such a bone head i dont remember the exact wording .we reset it and it stayed off until this afternoon . now it is on again and constant .i will scan it again tommorrow to see the exact wording of the results . anyone know what it could be.
