low oil light!??

Default low oil light!??

my low oil light has come on and stayed on for several months now but i check my oil regular and it is always full of oil!! anyone have this problem before or have any advice.. im guessing it's just a bad sensor. if so does anyone know what sensor it is?

There's a fat plastic connector out the passenger's
side of the oil pan (or real low on the block, I forget),
low enough to maybe get snagged.

Yeah check the wiring/connector to the sensor - it's on the passenger side of the oil pan.

isnt this the crank sensor? it's been awhile since i've looked under the car

No, it screws into the side of the oil pan - just the low oil level indicator. Illuminates the light when you're about 2 quarts low. Newest GM PN I have is 12603782.

I have changed a few out, starting with GM 3.8 v6's and on to LT1's and then the LS. It is a float that screws into the side of the pan, A lot of time they will start to leak through the center of the sensor where the connector is.

If you unplug it, the light should go off i think. IF it dont shut off then you have a melted wire somewhere.
