Default v6 to v8 swap, ECU?

Just a quick question. Im swaping a v8 into the g/f's v6 Camaro and I had a question about the ecu situation.

I currently have a 99 ECU in my own car and HPTuners for tunning. Well I wanted to get another 99 ECU so this way I can do both of our cars with my current cable. if I buy a 99 ECU from a wrecked fbody, will I be able to just install it in the car and it will work, or will the vin or something else have to be modified beforehand for it to function in her car.

Providing it's the same year/model/trans it should just plug in and start up.

So if it isnt the same model trans, like lets say its a 6spd car, and I bought an ECU from an automatic car, could I not just flash in a stock 6spd car tune and it be good to go?

One final question, lol. How about if it was from a 99 chev truck but same part number ECU? Could I flash it with my HPTuners to a car's tune?
