Default Mail order tune - Should i tune for N2O?

I'm ordered a mail order tuned PCM tomorrow, and i only run N2O maybe every few weeks or so on the weekend, and its my daily driver. It says the timing will be retarded if its programmed for N2O and N/A HP will be less. I want to run a 150 shot on the occasion, but should I have the PCM permanently tuned for N2O?

Get an EFI LIVE OS5 tune and have your cake and eat it too. With OS5 there is provision for N20 adjustments when a trigger is set. Contact Jesse@WaitForMe for details.

Definitely don't run advanced timing on the spray. Just give up the few hp and make sure the tune is safe for the nitrous.

How much loss are we talking for a slightly retarded timing on N/A? I am going to be running a 125 shot, and I had him configure the tune for that.

I run N/A way more often than N2O.

if you can afford some turning software like EFI Live or HPTuners you can go back and forth between the tunes on days you know you will be using the N20, unless it is at random occasions.

Random. Depends who's on the street

So will an MSD box allow me to have correct timing while N/A and immediately switch to retarded timing while spraying?

That's a tricky question. Is the 150 a wet or dry shot?

I'd say that if your fuel pressure remains @ or above idle pressure while spraying, then an adjustable timing box should do it. This gives you what you're looking for going back & forth between spray & N/A driving.

Tune your car on motor threw the PCM and get an ignition box for the gas.

Right when your kit arms the 12v source will run to the box and it will pull whatever timing you have set. That way your car isnt a turd all the time with timing retarted.

Tony.
