need help NOGO and anyone with edit knowlege
I recently logged a couple runs at the track
when I translated the readings into GM/Cyl
and read the corresponding advance for the rpm in edit
it was 3 to 1 degree lower than what it should have been
for that part of the table in edit
I am using efi live and was wondering if you or anyone else has this problem
I had no knock retard on the run but had some in the wetbox each time
well I looked at the low octane table to see if that is where the reading was coming from and it wasnt.
just to give an example
at 6020 rpm my advance was 26 deg according to EFI
when I looked at the proper cell in edit and the corresponding cells they all read 28.5
the low octane table reads 24 deg for that same cell
any help would be appreciated
thanks

Did you check your IAT / MAP timing modifier table. On hot days, if you have not zeroed out your IAT / MAP timing modifier table, your car will pull timing.
If you log IAT, check that against the IAT / MAP timing table.
Good Luck

NoGo, am I understanding correctly that it is OK to zero out the table so the PCM won't be pulling timing? Did GM put this in there just to be conservative? I don't like to eliminate something unless I know why it was there to start with. It seems like cars with a cooler T-stat like a 160* would be safer to run more timing on a hot day.

He didn't say it was ok to zero it out, just that if it isn't it may affect total timing.

Thanks for the update binks. I wasn't aware that the table was mislabled. I'll try to answer your email today as well.
On most H/C cars or 160 thermo cars I usually decrease this table a little bit, but don't eliminate it. The only cars that I eliminate it on are ones that spend the majority of their time at the track or boosted cars (which the IAT is always way north under boosted conditions).
Good Luck
