Just one minor correction to avoid confusion!

By 98 all GM vehicles had PCMs and not VCMs.

I guess that is trivial but just saying...

Sweet! Thanks for the link, that will give me something to do this weekend. On the realy, did you just use pin #47 for the ground on the realy? And are other year models the same as in the pin # on the pcm? Also im not sure if your vid is working or not, Everytime Ive tried to watch it I end up at the photobucket home page.

Is there already a wire coming out of #47?
If so what's it supposed to control stock and do I cut it or splice in to it?

No wire or pin. You will need to put a pin and wire in.

How is the lag when shifting WOT at 6200 rpm? I'd like to see a log with this circuit connected to a HP Tuners MPVI harness (or equivalent) against the RPM PID and see how accurate it is...

I did this yesterday finally and the Red connector Pin 47 did have a wire in it. It was yellow I believe. I got everything made and wired up but the LEDs have a real dim glow to them when they arent on. Guess Ill have to try a relay and see if they helps.

I wouldn't try and drive a relay with that output. Try upping the resistor you are using with the LED to limit it's 'idle' current; that will get your desired result though you may have to play with it a bit.

Same here but whats weird is after I put all the settings in the file and loaded it into the PCM the glow was gone. I have no glow until it reaches the desired RPM.

One last question, Is this possible on a 98? I went to do this mod to a buds 98 trans am and first thing I noticed was the hpt file didnt have the option to activate the shift light, 2nd thing I noticed was the PCM was wired differently. Is it possible to load a new .hpt from a 99 or etc and if so which pin on the PCM will be used?

Thanks!
