Default VERY broad tuning question.

Quick scenario, the LS1 in my 97 was in my buddies 98 last year. When the motor was in his car, it was H/C, LS6 intake, full exhaust, with about 11.1 CR.

After the swap. the motor sits in my car with the cam, stock heads, stock intake, full exhaust with about 10.1 CR.

The cam is a 224/228 .640/.646 at 110.

I am running the same tune(dyno tune from speed inc) he ran last year.

I have access to HP tuners, but not a wideband.

Any thoughts on where i should start, the car runs strong and it seems within safe limits, but i am sure there is tuning to be done.

Thanks

Wideband would definitely help, but for a start try monitoring the following:

1). Spark Advance, and any knock detected.
2). Trims, both Strims & Ltrims. Will give you a idea of you general fueling as it relates to to your O2 switching.
3). Download the tune currently in car, and just methodically go through every parameter possible. Check to see how many parameters are 'stock' and how many have been changed.
4). Double-check commanded PE parameters (AFR & TPS % enable).

Thats a start.

After 3 months of experimenting with EFILive, I think I can almost tell by the feel and response of the car if the AFR & timing is down. But, obviously accurately measuring AFR through a wideband, and monitoring knock would be my first suggestions, and in all reality is practically mandatory.

Hope that is what you were looking for.

Best of luck in your endevours.

for a start, get a wideband, and not a LC1
