I'd get into some auto shop classes to understand basic car mechanics before jumping in to a V8 F-body, unless you have lots of money to spend at the mechanics shop.

Try a search, and both cars are the same besides the odometer and condition of course, get whichever is cheaper.

Your talking about 1/8th mile right?
Do a search this has been covered millions of times. Neither car is more powerful than the other, and they are both equally fast. Expect 1/4 times to be in the 13s, 102-108mph.

To answer one of your questions...

In terms of 1/4 mile times, Formula = Trans AM = WS6 Formula = WS6 Trans AM

They are all roughly the same.

Check out the drag racing section, as well as internal & external gen III engines on this website.

A stock LS1 car will run in the low/mid 13's.

Full exhaust and some good tires will generally get you into the 12's.

Go a step further and do a Camshaft swap, and potentially heads, stall converter (if automatic), and some suspension and you'll be in high 10's to low 12's.

Clearly there are an infinite number of routes you can go, but that gives you a very general idea.

You're absolutely right! All LS1s really need is an exhaust and intake and you're running 10 second quarter miles. Imagine what a smooth bellow will do!!!!!!@!@!@

buy our cars for looks and condition not speed. the differences between birds, camaros, and even corvettes are so small its just all about the driver.

since you're 18, i wouldn't recommend any power adders until you have gotten use to the car, besides a catback for sound. these cars have a lot of power from the start. not 8 or 9 second cars but to give you a reference, a koenigsegg ccx once had a recording of low 9 second 1/4 mile. that thing weighs 900 pounds less than ours and has 800 horsepower at the crank, not close to 350. you're gonna spend what the cars worth trying to get it anywhere near those times.

I assume you are just talking about in terms of 1/4 mile acceleration? Because the Corvette is worlds apart from the Fbody in everything else.

assuming you are buying a bone stock fbody, start out with some bolt on parts. try the external engine forum. you're on the right path though, you chose an ls1
