Real Pontiac
Not a chevy in this thing. Almost done making it prettier and getting some stuff done. Drove it today and decided to post some pics over here. I have an LS1 too, so Im not hating on the later engines, but this thing is the embodiment of a dream I have had for a long time... a 10 second street car. If it gets light enough it might run single digits, or kill me..
Not terrible for $75 worth of paint. Its single stage implement enamel, a nice metallic blue. It had minimal rust so it only took me three weeks to get it done. Work on the fiberglass bumpers, fenders, and doors starts tomorrow... good thing I have enough paint to cover them too.
Under the hood...
How it looked a month ago.
2000 rpm idle, part throttle flash of the converter. Not enough pavement to do it up real good. More videos later i guess.

It was a WS6 301 4 barrel 4 speed Formula, kinda rare but not terribly desirable because of the 301. The original engine is still in Germany where I bought it. If it was a 400 car things would be entirely different. Im not cutting the body and I have all the parts to put it back if I ever wanted to. Dont really want to, its too nice as a drag car. Besides I have a 10th Anniversary TA, a 72 455 HO Formula, a 71 Formula 400, and a 79 SE TA, they are rare enough for me.
The goal is 2900lbs with me in it and still streetable, meaning the windshield will stay glass and the windows will roll up and down.

About the question in your sig.. This is one way to get 500rwhp. Call up Butler Performance and tell them you want a copy of my engine, easily more than 500rwhp NA... It also does it on pump gas, but soon to be ethanol, both home brewed and E85, and I wish I had gone with more compression in it, like 13:1 and I would just forget gasoline entirely.
I should have it drivable next week sometime. Still have some fabricating to do, like seat mounts and getting the brakes working right. And with that I am back out to the shop to do some damage.

Made an altitude adjustment and buffed the paint to get the overspray off. Now the metallic actually shows and the car shines. Now if I can get the Cougar to lose the gasser look and move under its own power, life will be good.

I love seeing real Pontiac motor in a Pontiac car.
I have a 468 Pncho in here with Edelbrock heads. Run's 6.80's in the 1/8 and 10.70's in the 1/4. Built it for the street, but my first wife said NO. You are going to race it instead. Thank you 1st wife, I still have my drivers liscense.

I've always wanted a set of Edelbrock heads for my Pontiac... what a difference they'd make over the 6x's I got right now.
Likin' the car so far... not too many people stick with the Pontiac blocks when they want big power.

Right now this one will stay how it is, im not going to swap the cam, its relatively streetable anyway. I finished shooting the blue today, only have to put the mirrors back on. Then the silver along the bottom and the words Formula. I would kill to have the chance at building an IAII based big CI engine with Tiger heads and hey why not a couple turbos. I could make so much power I wouldnt have a car that could take it. So it would be about perfect.
Played with the camera in the dark tonight, took some long exposures to see how they would come out. I could use photoshop and clean them up a bit, worked over one but I havent put in the photobucket yet, it did come out nice. If I get some good light tomorrow I might wash it and take some better ones.

Yeah I know I am braggin, but most need LOTS of work. Some I will part with, others not so much. It will be difficult at best to get a GTO away from me. Its taken me 27 years to get all of these, and a few more, Im not gonna just give them away or scrap em.

Actually, so would I. Im pretty sure that one is going to be my oldest daughters ride so she doesnt have to rush on her GTO. Hers is the 4th pic with the LeMans front end, its a 72 GTO I bought out of a junkyard way back in 86 for $175, it was our DD before the 70 GTO. Car seats in a GTO, its a gearheads only way to travel.

You have WAY too many GTO's. I'll head out your way and take one of your hands so you got more time to spend with the others...haha. Looks like your plate is pretty full man. I would be like a kid in a candy store at your place
