Default Gauge cluster swap question?

I have a 97 V6 Firebird and I am looking at swapping the gauge cluster to a 155 speedo will one from a 98-02 V8 work as they are both digital clusters?

Will the MPH be correct?
Will the tach be correct?

Thanks for your help guys!

tach will probably be incorrect if things are still the way they used to be. tachometers receive and transmit signals based on the number of cylinders. 4, 6, 8 are all different codings. I don't know about the tach. I guess it would depend on whether or not the v6 trans outputs the same signal as the 4l60 trans.

I know some people who've put 4th gen F-body gauge clusters in Fieros and in order for it to work right, they had to use a V6 cluster on the V6 or it wouldn't read accurately. I'm guessing you'd have the same issue trying to use a V8 cluster in a V6.
Also, some of the sending units change over the years, and the odometer changes from a mechanical to electronic one - so it won't be a plug and play swap.

Thanks guys!

I do believe the v6 model has a 4l60E just like the V8 model does and unless the number of teeth are different on the tail shaft reluctor wheel it would lead me to believe that the speedometer outputs would be the same.

Pretty sure you'll be just fine. As long as you get a cluster from the same year model.
