Default Thinking of adding a WS6 or WS9 hood

Where's the best place to buy and what should I pay? Ideally, I'd like to find one used in good condition that's already painted red.

I haven't seen a Raptor hood in person, but it looks sick in pics. Is that a better option?

Raptor hood is very hard to get. I would get a trufiber WS6 or WS9 hood, they are very good quality and you can have it painted to match. Even if you find one already red it may not match your paint due to aging and weather on the paint.

Can you post an under the hood pic? It would be nice to see the air intake.

I have been debating a true fiber vs a suncoast raptor. The suncoast hoods appear to be all fiberglass whereas the oem was, to the best of my knowledge, fiberglass laid on steel.

Sorry man, I sold this car 2 years ago and I don't believe I have an under hood pic of the actual hood. I will check when I get home though.

I appreciate it. No worries, though if you do not have one. I still like my steel hoods.

Are these aftermarket hoods functional for cars that weren't WS6's or just for looks?

They are usually more functional than the stock WS6 hood which is not very functional at all. Most open directly to the airbox and incorporate heat extractors.

Nice, thanks for the info. Which brand hoods do that exactly? Want to make absolutely sure I'm getting the best hood offered.

I would like to see a personal pick of the suncoast raptor hood. That is kind of sexy.

I have a Suncoast Raptor hood on my car and this hood fit perfect and is completly fuctional although it also has the heat extractors near the windshield but I really dont think they work the way they are supposed to because when it rains I can see the drops going back into the hood which is really not a problem but I would think air is supposed to come out of the hood if its an extractor j

I too am looking into these hoods. For those in the know:

Is there a differance between the Trufiber hoods and the Suncoast hoods?

Is a "proper" Raptor hood with visable vents on the sides as well as having air vented out the back of the hood?

Searching "WS9" on ebay results in Trufiber hoods for $502.00. Is this the "correct" hood? Who has one of these?

Talking

The WS9 hood looks awesome. I plan on getting one as soon as I'm done with my engine and suspension.

Support the Sponsors,
the WS6-Store sells the Trufiber "WS9" hood and VFN sells their own "WS9" hood.

It looks like the Trufiber hoods on ebay and what the WS6 Store is offering are the same hoods. The ebay page shows the item number which matches what’s on Trufiber’s website.

All these hoods look to be shipped directly from Trufiber and have a flat shipping rate of $150.00. With shipping, the ebay site price is the same as the WS6 Store price. Whichever way you go, it’s $650.00.

I’ve had a good read of these hoods as well as the VFN hoods. The VFN hoods are more expensive.

The Suncoast hoods are $750.00 plus a hundred bucks for the side vents plus shipping. For that price, it better come with a guy to install and paint it!

Looks like I’ll be going Trufiber via The WS6 store.

That's why I haven't bought anything. Everybody wants too damn much for a hood. I'm thinking of going to the junk yards and seeing if I get lucky. For $500 to my door, I'd buy.

It would come with lead based too, so you couldn't give any rides to jailbait.

When I bought my suncoast/raptor hood I dont remember if they offerd side vents or not but I orderd the ram-air intake for this hood (which I still have on my shelf because it didnt fit) and my total cost was well over $1000.00
