Default 98 trans am ws6 new owner

I'm picking up my ws6 this week and I'm curious if there is any free mods that are specific to the ws6. I've owned several camaro's and still have a 99
1le car so I know all the basic ls1 tricks. I've heard there might be something in the hood scoops to take out? Thanks for any help.

Just cutting out the rain baffles behind the nostrils. However, that's more of a gimmick than the hood itself. With the nostrils not being directly connected to the intake box you're not getting the "ram air" at all...

Thanks for the reply I Knew the camaro ss hood was functional but I wasn't sure about the ws6.

The SS hood is less functional than the WS6. Cut the baffles out and seal it to the airbox with some weatherstripping; total cost would be like $20 and you might be able to gain 2hp...

Well the ss hood is fully functional so if the ws6 is not then its not as good but if you cut the baffles out you should be able to pick up more than 2hp.

The SS hood is no more functional than the ws6 hood. They both dump air in front of the air cleaner the same way, only the ss hood has to send the air around bends and **** lol.. all the Ram Air, and SS hoods are, are good factory Cold Air Intakes lol.

The shorter path for the air for the WS6 hood, combined with the outside air intake closer to the nose of the car rather than further back under a dead-zone like the SS hood, results in a more efficient CAI. Need proof? Check out the 8/99 issue of C&D where they compared identically equipped '99 WS6 and SS 'verts w/ M6. Up to ~100MPH they were nearly identical, but after that the WS6 pulled away and hit the speed limiter at 162MPH while the SS ran out of breath at 158MPH. "Ram Air" indeed.

Thats good to know, I do know I put a SS hood on my Z-28 and picked up .1 and 1mph so it definatly helps over a stock hood.

Search for "free mods"

This has been discussed many times before...
