Default How to tell a real WS6?

i just purchased a 02 trans am ws6. i ran the vin on the dash and comes back with both a ws6 and ws9 option. A friend tells me that the car is not a true WS6
cause it doesnt have the right sway bars and has ebony interior. im told only CETAs came with full ebony interior. the car has just over 60000 miles and never been wrecked according to carfax. any way to figure out without a doubt what this car is?

The CETA came with the embroidery on the haed rests. Ebony interior was an option on other TA's besides the CETA. The sway bars could have been swapped also. I sold my old CETA with 3K miles on it about 6 years ago and I swapped the Al. driveshaft for a steel one before selling it.

a ws6 will have ws6 on the door tag also the other door tag will state 275/40/17 for the tire size. Isn't ws9 the code that turned a formula into a trans am?

I have a ws6 with ebony. Not sure about the sway bars. Ws6's are probably a little thicker then the base TA. And ws9 is a formula if I'm not wrong. The way u can tell is by checking the driver door and check on the RPO code list to see if u see a WS6 code in there.

WS9 is the RPO for "Formula Conversion - Firebird", which means it has a V8 drivetrain. ALL Formulas AND T/As have WS9. Formulas ALSO have W66, T/As ALSO have Y82 (Y84 if it's a 'vert).

Ebony leather was available on any Firebird, including V6s, from '00-'02.

Why does your friend think the sway bar is not correct for this WS6? He's obviously highly knowledgeable about these cars.

thats it ws9 was for formula from a v-6. thanks. yeah if it says ws6 it should be for real unless some1 changed out the door. (seen it before) run the vin through asc to see what number you got.

If you have WS6 as RPO code on your door sticker you have a real WS6. Here is my 2002 WS6 with ebony interior. I know mine is stock.

Here are some threads to read, from JRP's FAQ Sticky at the top of the Newby section of this forum.
