New Here, thought this was a funny story.
So I got a 1998 Forumla for my sixteenth birthday yesterday, and lets just say I thought this story was "appropriate" for this forum...
Its been my second day with my license and I already got a $207 ticket LOL...
I hope this entertains at least some of you.
I didn't know which topic to put this in so I went with this one.

That is a hell of a first car. Congratulations but expect the tickets to continue. It is almost unavoidable when a teen. I had to give up my '71 Roadrunner way back when and trade it in for a 'slow as a turtle' Fiat to save my driver's license. Once the points went away (and a bit wiser from age and experience) I was back into muscle and high performance again. Enjoy the ride!

im not even 18 and ive had 4 tickets. cant say its the V8 cuz 2 of em were in V6s (my firebird and my mom GP GT)
its hard to keep these birds on the ground. take care of it tho (regardless of the speed you drive it). these cars are beautiful

I've had one ticket in my life, didn't get it till I was 21. And I got it in my truck lol. But I have been pulled over 8 times in the two years I've had my car. Always for something trivial that never nets me a ticket, just usually a look under the hood and a 30 minute conversation lol

My first car was a 95 silverado. My dad bought it new, then it became a work truck for his construction company. By the time I got it in 2007, it had 218k miles on it and a ton of rust. Needless to say, I drove like a stereotypical young adult male, thinking back on some of the stuff I did in that truck I would admit I was very stupid. But I never got a ticket, not until last halloween. I got caught speeding in my ex gfs 95 subaru that topped out at 65 lol. That incident turned my luck around. Since then I got 5 more tickets, 3 in my pickup, one in one of my dads 99 silverado work trucks, and I totaled my moms 08 grand cherokee with only 19k miles on it. Needless to say she got a 2010 jeep and I am very fortunate because she helped me get an '08 grand cherokee with a v8 when the rust on my pickup took over the frame and caused rot to form. I just passed my driver safety exam on saturday to get the last of the 2 points off my license and I haven't gotten a ticket since August, not in my jeep, my '72 formula 400 firebird or in the 96 ws6 that I've had for a week lol, and I got my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Enjoy your car dude, and try to keep that license. You wanna be in the drivers seat, not in the passenger seat haha.

honestly if you think its funny i give you less than a year and it wont be "your" formula or license. i got one ticket and that was because i didnt see that the speed limit changed (it was midnight) and the cop was a dick that night (i would be too if i had a purple v6 charger). and if you have $200+ to pay for a ticket, points on your license to spare, and the extra money to pay for insurance... go ahead and get more tickets. welll. Welcome to ls1tech haha

Good luck with the formula though man! Just dont be stupid about stuff and save that money for mods. The more tickets you get, the more you're gonna wish you had that money to put into the bird!

I was 21 (1990) when I got my first F-body and haven't owned anything else since.
`78 Camaro Z28, `79 Trans Am, `94 Formula and the current `98 Formula.
The `98 I ordered new and had a drag racing ticket within 2 months of picking the car up.
I got that one reduced to a 1 point squeeling tires ticket. The laws seem to be a bit more strict now depending on your location so be carefull. I've racked up over 40 points since I was 18, been popped 4 times for street racing and that still only accounts for less then 1% of all the racing I did. I had alot of fun but looking back I was stupid and could have been killed several times.
The best words of advice I can give you is "Just because you have a fast car, doesn't mean you have to drive fast".

I had a '84 5.0 mustang for a few months before I bought my Trans Am in 2007. I was 17 and I still havent gotten any tickets. But when I let my dad drive it, he came home with a reckless driving and loud muffler tickets.
Now I'm 20 and my TA has 556 rwhp. I hope my luck hasnt run out with the police.

Mine was a 69 Beaumont 4dr/307cid at 18, got chased and busted unlicensed at 17 in a Corrola so I had to wait for my first official License. Have had 68, 69 Firebirds and 69 Coup, Convert GTOs. I still get stupid with this T/A and I am going on 48? The learning curve never ends, try to be safe and the fun will last longer! Les>>>

My first ride at 16 was a Datsun B210 with a killer 70 HP! About burned the clutch out of that thing spinning, and loaded it inside and out with every conceivable performance and appearance mod and it was still a POS. All my buddies had F-Bodies, so nobody wanted to ride with me!
On-ramps are great fun, but like everyone is saying, keep it cool as LEO's are watching.
