98 GTA Firebird? WS6?
My buddy has a Black on Black 98 Firebird Covertible and on the RPO i found Y84 GTA option, his dad swears its a WS6 but in my research they didnt make a WS6 in 98... EVERYTHING i find regarding a GTA firebird kicks me to older generations... is that car crazy rare? and yes i will get pictures of it tomorrow.

what do you mean they didnt make a WS6 in 1998? there is no way he has a 1998 GTA... pretty much youre saying that its a one of a kind car?

No GTA was built past the 1992 model year. GM recycles RPO codes all the time like said before, that's why it came back as a GTA because it over laps. For example, MN6, manual, same RPO code as a LS3 Vette, though the LS3 uses a TR6060 and not a T56 like they did in the 4th gen. So by your logic does the new C6 use a T56? No it means GM recycled an RPO code.

Question #14 - "Any ideas on why the GTA's weren't carried over to the new generation Firebirds in 1993.......?"
The fourth generation Firebird introduced in 1993 reflected a general trend in the auto industry to downsize and simplify car model lineups. Pontiac returned to the basic model lineups and dispensed with all the option packages prevalent up to that time; the base car, the Formula, and the Trans Am model had been in the lineup for decades. With the fully-contented nature of the regular 1993 Trans Am and the general industry trend away from flashiness, it was only natural that the GTA model would fall by the wayside.
Price also no doubt played a role in the GTA's demise. Whereas the 1992 GTA stickered at around $25,000, the new 1993 T/A went for around $21,000 and had a lot of new features that the GTAs lacked: dual airbags, ABS, six-speed manual trannys, etc. The new-model T/As offered value and performance, with a dash of flash thrown in for good measure.
