I thought the same thing until a few weeks ago, I was comparing my T/A to a friends and we noticed the mirrors. I dont know if both mine were replaced with the blue ones or if because mine was so early in the 99 model year of production I got some left over 98 parts. Either way I have the blueish tint and didnt really have any idea what it was for.

The LTx T/A's had them (not sure on base model firebirds), but only the drivers side. If your LS has them (excluding '98, because I'm not sure)...then, I'm certain someone swapped them out.

Answer is, early built 99's had them. They had the "left overs". I have a 99 TA with regular "silver" mirrors, Before I sold my 97 TA that had blue tinted mirrors, I was going to swap them, I thought someone swapped them before I got the car and I wanted the blue ones on there. So I researched it and found out GM stoped the blue tinted mirrors in 99 EXCEPT for the Anniversary Edition. And yes some early 99 builds got them. I decided to leave my silver mirrors on my car being that it was a later 99 build.

My car "officially" came off the assembly line 16 December 1998 final inspection was done by Mary ?. I forget the lastname. I found the sign off tag, saying the car was good to go.

Are you the first owner of the car?? The 30th anv. T/A's I have seen had them. Had a friends dad buy one in late 98 that had them also (dont know the build number or the build date) but it was before Christmas. I was about 19 or 20 when he bought it and I was looking at buying a RX7 that had them, and I remember that part of the two cars stood out. Maybe you got "jipped". Who knows maybe the first few T/A's in 99 got the left overs. From what I have read and seen, early 99's got them (maybe 99 models built EARLY in late 1998?).
