Default 00 trans am or 02 ws6

im going to making my buy this week. i have found a couple cars and narrowed it down to 2. both the same color (the pewter color) both leather, auto, t-top

first one is a 00 trans am, 127Kmiles, aftermarket wheels (new tires), tint, a couple of spots on the body messed up, catback and lid. clean title, talked him to $6,000

second on is 02 WS6, 115K miles, double din head unit, clean body/interior, catback exhaust, REBUILT TITLE, asking $6,000 OBO

which should i go with?

If you're keeping the car for life, go with the WS6. I love my '99 t/a, but wish I had that damn hood. It really makes the car. Every time I look at the hood, I just -sigh-

Have you driven both of them? Rebuilt titles will kill value but if you aren't ever going to sell it it doesn't matter. Find out when the accident was, and see if they have pictures and info on the accident.

I would go for whatever one drives better.

regular trans am = that ws6 hood makes the car and gives it a mean stance. plus it has less miles, already has the ls6 intake too which is a plus.

Neither car sounds real exciting but I would definitely avoid the re-built title car. Is this really the best you can do with all the Trans Ams for sale out there? They both will need repair $$ much sooner than later. Try to save a bit of that $$ and get something decent that doesn't have the issues. Perhaps after negotiating a bit, another $3,000 - $4,000 could get you something like this:

or

These cars sound like clean title cars but you would have to do your homework on each one. I have no idea. They just seem so much better than what you described above. It is tough to wait but the reward can be so much better. Whichever direction you go, best of luck!

Continue looking is my 2cents.
Definitely try to find a WS6 over the T/A, just looks so much better! But that rebuilt title kills the one you're looking at. I mean as long as it wasn't mangled and all has been fixed (get pictures, details, receipts, claim report) if it's not too bad then possibly consider that one. But that rebuilt title really does put a dampering on the party. If you're planning to mod it make sure it's stable, if you're not gonna do much to it besides DD then who knows. It's all about if you want a car in pristine condition, or something you want to work on.

the car will be my DD yet will still see mods and track time. i have not seen either personally, just pictures and phone conversations. the TA is 5.5hrs away and the ws6 4 hours away. there are plenty of other cars out there but my schedule limits me to driving to far. and i am needing to buy within the week.

I underlined that part of your quote as it could be the biggest mistake of your life. You never buy a car in a hurry. Never! It will cost you real good $$ and you will regret it within a few months. There is always something else to get you around until you find the right car even if it means public transportation, and I know how horrible that is. Even spending $1,000 on cheap rental cars (until you find that right car) will find yourself better off financially and mentally in the long run. Buying a 'money pit' that results in thousands of dollars lost is horribly unpleasant and can just destroy the F-body ownership experience. Again, best of luck to you. I hope it all works out.

ws6 all day.. why spend thousands more just for a cleaner title? if your going to keep and drive it, get the better of the 2 (ws6) and have fun in it. 6k obo is a steal in my eyes.

Rebuilt title badically means an indurance co
Pany decided they didnt want to pay to repair it. I do 't know why some people get so hung up on that. The indurance company wanted to "total" my car for a hood, bumper and headlight. Long story short i fixed it all, except paint, for less then $1000, and retained a clean title.

It does hurt value, though on a rebuilt, because people think "junked" or "destroyed" or "not safe". But if this is gling to be a car you keep for a while, ws6 all day. The other car sounds rougher anyways. You could always part out your ws6 later for a clean titled roller..

Lots of rebuilt title cars are theft recovery. Insurance will write them off and if recovered, are issued a rebuilt title. I would car fax the ws6. may be 1 of those kind of cars.

Talk to your insurance company, they may be able to get you some information.

But as said before, rushing hurts the search. I searched for 2 months before dropping the hammer on my new WS6.

Very close. I would say it depends on the body of the WS6. If the body is way cleaner on the 02 and its somthing you are going to keep for a very long time then i would say go with the 02.

looking at a couple of 98 ws6. one it local.

checked on the door tag and "WS9" is labeled, but not "WS6" also the seats dont have the slits in the side bolsters..

it has ws6 badging, trunk lid. but a aftermarket hood

is it a true ws6?

If it doesn't have the WS6 RPO code then it is not a real WS6. The slits on the side bolster are only for the seats that have the adjustable bolsters. Last but not least, you can buy the badges on eBay.

Better check with your insurance co. before buying a car with a salvage title. Some ins. wont cover a salvage title.
