Exclamation 1996 Firbird Y87 rear end noise

hey i have a 1996 Pontiac Firebird y87 model- 3.42 gears, Auburn LSD
Lately its been making some weird noises from the rear end
there has always been a constant noise coming from it but now when i am using it for prolonged times especcily at high speeds when i slow back down almost to a stop there is a very harsh grinding/popping noise that almost sound like the gears are off or something it will do it sometimes up to 4 times when im slowing down to a stop
let me know what you think it is

Could be that the gears are worn, bearings are bad, crappy ujoint etc. How many miles? It would help if you could get a video of the noise. Being a 3.42 I assume it's an auto. I had a silver y87 Bird a couple years back. Fun car for lacking two cylinders!

Try changing the oil. Might be all it needs.
