Default I am told vert & coupe floor mats differ?

I was looking at a gm set for a coupe and was told the foor seat area on a vert is bigger. How much different are they? If I could even find vert spisific ones they are a fortune. I have access to an interior shop if it make a difference.

Dear carguy8888,

Hello, the covertable has a larger seat floor area than the coupe. Thanks, Chris.

I can't imagine them being different. Mine are still the originals and here are the measurements for them if it helps you out;
Front Driver = 26" x 15"
Front Passenger = 24" x 16"
Both Rears = 15.5" x 13"

The fronts obviously have 'cut out' parts so the measurements I provided are the longest.

I was suprised too. Thanks for measuring but I don't have my oe mats to compare the #s to. Maybe someone else will chime in? I doubt rears are an issue.

You have it backward! The convertible floor mats are narrow in width than the coupe because of the structural loss for not having a solid roof.

So Iwould have to cut them & cutting the sides would look butchered. If it were the top or bottom I could deal with that but it's not. I guess if I find vert mats they will be a fortune.

I don't believe that is accurate. It is too bad no one will chime in with the sizes of the coupe to go along with my convertible sizes I posted above. I just looked on-line for you and I haven't seen any differences. Lloyd's (excellent carpets from personal experience) and Weathertech states 'all models and sub-models' for 1998-2002 model years with no differentiation. Look at this link (with numerous choices and companies) and then do a little research besides ebay.

Thanks for the search. I am sure Lloyd's are good but I don't want to go for $150-200, I didn't check but I am sure I am close. The weathertech ones say direct fit but I think they will need a little trimming. I may just get the oe style GM coupe ones & if I have to go to a carpet store and hack/trim the sides a bit.

I know the custom floor mats that came with the Firehawk package are different from the Coupe to the Convertible on the passenger side mat.

So I guess if i get coupe ones for my vert I will need to trim the front passenger outer edge to make it fit? Is there only one gray? They will look and feel much better then the ten cent black ones from the p/o.

The GM parts catalog show different carpet sets between the F67 and F87 bodies. Too many numbers to compare for mat sets but I'll say the right front mat is different between the coupe and convertible.

I would be willing to cut off a piece to make it fit my vert. Wish I knew how much the difference was.

Default There is a difference

I have a brand new set still in the plastic. The label on the bag says 2000 Firehawk Convertible. They are dark gray in color. I bought these for an extra set for my 2002 with ebony interior, but the embroidery area is different color than in 2002. I just bought a correct brand new set for my car but the label says that they are for a coupe. So I can guarantee you that there is a difference. I haven't took the time yet to see exactly what the difference is size is though. Since I bought the correct color & embroidery now for my car I was thinking of selling the 2000 set. If you still happen to be interested and I'm going to be posting them in the classified section to see what happens. If I get no takers I will be taking them to Ebay. Once I get a chance to see what the difference is I'll let you guys know. Honestly, I don't think once installed in the car that anyone would know the difference, but I'll check.

Ty for the reply. The difference is the front pass mat needs to be more narrow on the vert. I did find them at Hawks third gen but I have been doing other stuff first. Your embroidery says firehawk?

Default Follow up

Yes, they are the original SLP carpeted mats with the Firehawk script embroideried on them.
Ok, guys....I compared the coupe and the vert mats and the vert front passenger side mat is about 2 inches narrower than the coupe. Quite a bit of difference when you see them one on top of the other. Although, I haven't put them in the car to see the difference because the coupe mats I have are still in the sealed plastic bag. Not sure what they would like like in the car.
I have the vert mats in the classified section as of last night. If no interest I think I will just keep them even though there not the correct background where the Firehawk script is. At lease they fit my convertible. And besides, I doubt most people would ever know the difference.
