Default Another "How much for an LS1 swap?" thread. (For my specific car)

So I know this has been asked alot, but I was wondering f anyone would have a estimated price for doing an ls1 swap on my car and what else I would need.

I have an 01 v6 firebird with the Y87 performance package.

Y87 package includes:
3:42 limited slip rear
sway bars
the same steering ratio as the v8 few other things
So I wouldn't need a new trans, rear, or steering box...

Other than a motor, what else would I need? And approximate prices?

Thanks all

Why would you not go with the T56? As far as I know, all v6's came with the 5 Speed, which is going to struggle handling the V8, let alone the fact that you would have to buy a specific bell housing for it to mate up to the Ls1.

As far as Parts you would need besides the motor itself, here is just a short list:

Complete Engine
LS1 Radiatior & Hoses
LS1 Wiring harness & PCM
LS1 K-Member
LS1 Steering Rack
Exhaust System (V6 won't work with V8)
New Fuel Pump & Filter (V8 doesn't run the same pump)
V8 Gauge Cluster (if you want your Speedo to be accurate)
Throttle Cable
A/C & Heater Hoses

I would Highly encourage going with the T56
Also make sure you put an 01+ motor in it if you ever plan to get it inspected

The Easiest way to do the swap is find an 01 COMPLETE engine/trans with wiring harness & PCM that has been pulled. It will be a ton of work to make everything work properly and be able to pass inspection.

As far as prices, everything will range quite a bit based on condition and who is selling it. If you are wanting an estimate, I'd say you are looking at about $5000 or more. You can shave some off if you go to a salvage yard or know some people.
