Default Looking to Buy a T/A

Hey guys can i get some advice when i go look at this trans am?
Suspecting it to be bone stock but you never know.
it has 134k miles.
Any and all advice is welcome
There asking 5.5k for it.(leaves me with about 4k for a rebuild if needed)

Need a lot more in the way of details. Year?? We don't even know if the title is clean or the Carfax history.
I personally would pass on a car with those miles unless it was a one or two owner and not abused. Why put $4,000 into a car that will be worth exactly the same if you needed to sell it? An instant $4,000 loss. I would rather see you get a much lower mileage (non-abused) example that can be had for that $9,500 you have. That means looking at cars with asking prices like these:

But the car does look pretty well taken care of. A little more details would help.

I wouldn't buy it. If you have some patience, you won't regret it. For example, a friend got an o2 WS6 with 16k garage queen for 10.5. Another got an 01 WS6 (also clean) with 67K for 7 Gs. Those are hard to find deals, but if you have extra cash I'd go for a better one. Just my 2 cents.

Well I'm gonna say I'd buy it. Makes a nice first Firebird with very little invested. The mileage shouldn't be a concern. LS motors have a tendency to get better with more miles, so they last if taken care of. My '00 T/A has 135,000 on it, and I have a '99 Silverado that is approaching 220,000. Both run just fine.

I'd look into a 01/02...comes with a ls6 and a slightly bigger cam. And a ws6 hood is always a plus.

I paid $2400 for my 93 TA that needed a clutch and a tranny rebuild, 110,xxx miles and I'm very happy with it. My personal belief on buying cars is to find one with fixable problems and buy it cheap, then spend your money to make it good as new again. Plus you have extra cash for performance mods.

Not best for everyone, but certainly best for me! All depends on what you want to do with the car. Best of luck!

I basically will be using it as a daily driver until I graduate from college.
I work as a delivery driver. Currently driving a 04 avalanche.
Once I have the money for it I'm gonna work on dropping in a engine from the new camaro ss(tolazy to look it up)

I don't have a Trans Am, but when I was looking for a Z28 or SS Camaro, I searched nationwide. I found a one owner Z28 with 40,000 miles on it, and I snatched it up immediately. Car was located about 900 miles away, so I paid an additional fee to have the car shipped to me. Car has had 0 issues, was in pristine condition too.

Take your time finding your car. I took a few months of searching and found the one I wanted. flew out to Florida and drove her home. It isn't just the mileage with these cars, it is the age too. Mileage + Age....just know that you will be in for some work! I have 60,000 miles on my 2001 and this year I'm updating all the suspension, next year will be an oil leak, heads and a FAST intake, the years after will be a tranny or 9 inch rearend. What I'm trying to say, these cars are getting old and will need replacement stuff if they have high miles or not, depending on how they've been hammered on at green lights. Good luck, these cars rock and are a blast to learn and work on. Dont get discouraged about buying out of state and driving home, the best deals may be just out of reach

Like RJDio says take your time. There are deals out there on low mile cars.Don't be too much in a hurry. Find a car that somebody babyed and took good care of. I bought mine with 50k on it in 07.I would not buy one that has over 100k,but that's just me.

There's one hear closer to me that I looked at its a 01 formula
123k miles.
I have had 3 mechanics inspect it. Only thing they have found would be its idle pulley on the a/c belt.
Interior is near perfect has an after market cold air intake from what ever company use a A with a ring around.
No paint chips I can see underside is clean.
Anyone wanna see pictures of it?

Who even thinks this when they buy a 4th gen F-Body? It's not like it's a collectors car that is only going to escalate in value. You buy it, you're gonna lose money no matter what. I say buy it.

I mean, if that thought went through my head, I would have never bought my Formula... Instead I ended up turning this:

Into this:

And I've lost a lot more than $4000 on it, believe me.

That's what went through my head on that specific car.
I had a buddy go look at one day he came back and we decided to ditch the original car of this post.
We noticed it was missing the antenna. They took the monsoon amp out and there was no headunit so we decided to ditch that idea.

I knew I would be investing money into a vehicle any way I went.

I'd just look at that as an excuse to put a new sound system in it. LOL
