Default Shift Assist Disappeared

I've owned my 98 Trans Am for three years, and sometime within the past year the shift assist stopped working. From the beginning, I didn't like that the engine RPMS increased on their own while the car was decreasing speed in neutral or with the clutch disengaged, so I'm actually glad that it stopped doing that, but I'm interested to know if anyone else has had this happen, or if anyone knows what has made it stop functioning...

The solenoid went bad and stuck in the open position.

Could you share what the shift assist is and what exactly it does? I tried a search on here and on google but couldn't find anything about it?

I had mine tuned out. I think it's called throttle follower or something like that. Can't quite remember exactly what it's called.

Thank you, I was able to find some info on that! I had never heard of this and thought I may have had a MAF/tune issue since sometimes my RPM's will hang for a second at 1500 before going back down to idle. I'll ask my tuner if he messed with these tables at all.

Sorry for the thread jack.
