Default What exhaust do I have? [PICS]

When I purchased my car, the lady selling it said she had some exhaust work done but didn't go into details. Since this is my first LS1 car, I don't know what a stock exhaust looks like from an aftermarket lol. Defiantly doesn't sound stock, drove a regular T/A and this is much louder...

Exhaust manifold and cats are stock.

Thanks!

Is it worth changing out? I am completely content with the sound but the term "chokemasters" comes up too often

It is fine. That muffler actually flows pretty good.

When it was sold as a catback (may still be) it was called the American Thunder. I had one on a 97 Z28 back in 97-00, and it sounded great.

Op your car is stock,
That flowmaster isn't choking anything.

Its no borla or corsa but Far superior than factory.

Keep it on until you seriously start modding and you like the sound anyway.

i agree with this. If you change it right now, the car wont sound as good, and there will be pretty much no performance difference. Once youre into making power, then you can get something better.

+1 for stock exhaust with Flow Master.

No need to mess with it, you won't see or feel any difference.

Start with some headers or other bolt-on stuff.

Don't change it.........absolutely nothing wrong with that setup.

You better check the rear end fluid, It has to be low I can see the pinion seal is leaking from your photo.

I've been meaning to do that along with tranny fluid, but can't find a good DIY tutorial (never done it before)...

Just check the rear fluid and ADD so it full.......you better plan to have someone experienced replace the pinion seal.

How bout you read the countless amount of threads that show how bad the chokemaster 80 series sucks instead of just talking out your ***?

Do some research, its a proven FACT that the flowmaster 80s series for our cars is more restrictive then most aftermarket catbacks on the market, and those others will gain you more power, especially on more serious builds. This stems back all the way to the late '90s/early '00s. Try using the search...

Here is a link to a decent write-up for changing fluids.

Nice! Thanks that's just what I was looking for

As for the muffler I'm assuming as "bad" as flowmaster is, it is better than stock, which is all I care about right now. After I get some long tubes and y pipe I'll look into other catback options, but I'm perfectly content with this setup for now.

Pick up a GMMG, Borla, Corsa, or Kooks catback along with some Long Tubes and a Y-pipe and never think about exhaust again
