Default 02' fuel cap

Anyone have a locking fuel cap (stant) ? They look different where they screw in. They have tabs on the sides where as the original cap has threads.

Default Fuel Cap

Too many bad people out there and with an exposed fuel door and cap who knows what crazy person could throw stuff in there. I looked at a locking cap but the attachment looks way different then stock, not sure it it works.

I had one on my old Firebird but I never locked it. It was on the car when I bought it.

OK, what you are clearly missing is Stant doesn't just make one universal locking cap, they have different models for the different methods of "screwing in", that said unless there was a change between 99 and 02 you don't have "threads" on your cap you have 2 "tabs" opposite each other, you just need to find the Stant cap that matches the design of your factory cap.

Got my Stant from Walmart in the automotive section for like $10. They have an application book for our specific application .Works great no fitment issues.
