Need help with engine purchase
Looking for opinions here, time to replace my 145K LS1, thinking of going with a 370 or a 408, there are so many choices out there but I think I'm stuck on TSP, Hawks 3rd gen, Golens, and finally Promar,( i think they have a 406) so there's a lot of choices out there. I'm looking for high 400's horsepower if not 500+ just need some opinions from you guys on builders, thanks in advance

ok i checked them out online, seem to have good prices although they dont list a 370 or a 408 long block, i am assuming they would build the short block up to a long block if i was to call them, i still would like some opinions as far as service and reputation goe's for these shops i have listed as i have not made a purchase this large and i want to get it right the first time if possible, LOL...thanks. ( i do like Thompson's prices though)

Check out the Vendor directory top right of the page and put in your location to see who is near you. You could save a decent chunk of money by picking the motor up VS paying freight fees.
You are in a decent area it looks to me for having some performance shops at least within a days drive. I know Vengeance Racing in Cumming GA is a grade A shop.

yea i have looked extensively at TSP, a little too expensive for me right now, i have looked at ATK as well, i would rather buy a long block so i have everything there and i dont have to source out gaskets and stuff, just put my intake and fuel rails on and front accesories on and go with it, i know it is going to cost me either way i go but with the economy and the price of everything these days it will be hard to make that big of a purchase, plus i am not getting no overtime at work either. i am going to purchase one somewhere i imagine but i need to get the best bang for the buck. a friend on mine has a LS6 with 40k on it he is wanting to sell for 4 grand, i though about that mkotor and then putting a front mount turbo on it from Hawks. decisions decisions.....

Thanks for the Plug Pseudonym.
Ed, shoot me a PM with what you are looking for, expectations and what external parts you have to use and we can work something up on a long block estimate for you.
Brandon-ATK.

We do offer long blocks as well, I know they are not on the website. We have been building the new website and that leaves us unfortunately short on the products you can see at the moment. Please feel free to call us with any questions on a build. Thank you for the great lead HCI2000SS.

UPDATE!!! Went with a 370 from Thompson motorsports( the 408 was out of my budget for now), the engine arrived on time and very well packaged up, looked very professional and when we uncrated it it looks like a work of art, looks to be a quality piece, the car is going upon tthe lift tomorrow for tear down and installation, computer is being sent to Bruce at Hawks third gen for a base start up/ break in tune then I'll take the car down for the final dyno/street tune (they're like 2hrs from me), wish me luck! :-)
