Default Center tail light section issue

on my 98 TA, my center tail light section seems to have some sort of white swirls inder the plastic. I dont know id its from the sun or water or what.

anyone else have this issue, know what it is and if its fixable ?

I've seen it before, it's not pretty. You could try wetsanding it and polishing it like I did:

That was with one pass of M105 and M205. I went back later and did a few more passes with each to get it even better and it looks great now with some fresh decals.

Stress cracks or something like that in the plastic, .., & they won't come out with polishing.
Been there, Done that, ...
You can either buy a replacement, new or used, ..., or paint it.

My 97 Formula has that issue. Looks like the paint clouded.

Same here. I think it's sun damage.

Mine had the exact same white swirls, so I just bought one off of TechCam97.

It can't be. The one on my Formula has a mark on it like this, and my car has been garaged for the past 12 years.

i think it may have something to do with moisture getting behind the tail light... i picked up another one.... i may just cover the old one with black vinyl or something. play around

Take an old one & hit it with a soft, or dead-blow type hammer.
You'll see what I mean, ...
Wish I had one here, I'd show ya.
Hell, hit it hard enough with the palm of your hand, & it may show the stress features/cracks.
