Default Headers and Y pipe suggestions

Hey fellas, just picked up an 02 WS6 mostly stock except for a Volant CAI and SLP cat back exhaust system. Looking at getting headers and Y pipe but from what I've read it will make my car really loud with the SLP exhaust which isnt what I'm really looking for. Anybody have any experiences with 1 7/8 headers that isn't annoying loud with the SLP exhaust? Otherwise I'll have to rip it out, but I would prefer to save a few hundred bucks if I can

Can't go wrong with speed engineering headers. If you don't want it loud or want the stink, add a catted y pipe. That will quiet it down quite a bit.

I checked out the WS6 store, think I'm going for the TSP 1 7/8 headers and TSP catted Y pipe. Gonna see if I can do it myself with my 15 yr old son, the left side on the battery side looks kinda tight so let's see what happens! I'm assuming it's all a direct fit, but any pointers will be appreciated, thanks.

PB blaster is your friend! I sprayed all the header/exhaust bolts, and where the Y meets the I pipe a couple of times a day leading up to the install and the bolts came out with ease.

Getting the car as high as possible helps too. When we installed my headers we had the stands as high as they would go, plus 2 2x4's. Also agree with changing the motors mount, plugs, and wires while you're in there.

Good luck!

Thanks man, good idea on spraying the bolts everyday. I was just thinking how difficult they were gonna be to remove.

No problem. I remember as we were pulling out the header bolts you could see the pb blaster half way down the threads. It's great stuff.

For sure on this, i was able to get my DS in from the top doing LT's, but i had to jack the car up crazy high to get the angle for sliding the PS up from underneath, even with the motor jacked up as well...it's a tight fit

Texas Speed 1 7/8" here... love the headers. Their ORP Y-Pipe is a POS for fitment.

What is wrong with the ORY? Why/where did it not fit right?

I have some pics on computer I think. We couldn't get it to line up flush and had to tweak the amount of joint connection (instead of being tight together) and cut 3" approx off I pipe. I'm on phone now so don't gave the pics. I contacted Texas speed via email and their Facebook regarding it and never got a response.
