In 1998 there were 339 TA WS6 convertibles, and 2 Formula WS6 convertibles.

If it's factory ram air, it's a WS6, the two were not independently available.

What number are you talking about? if its the VIN it wont show whether its a WS6 or not, check the RPO codes on your door and look for the "WS6" code.
And looking at your wheels man, it doenst look like its a WS6, i think the owner before you added the hood and sold it as a ram air

There's no spoiler, I've yet to see one without.

If you search in this forum for WS9, you should find a number of threads where that's been explained

That is the rear spoiler for a convertible Trans Am, they didn't have the big raised wing like the coupes had (as they have a trunk, not a hatch).

From your pic, it appears that you have the cast aluminum 16" wheels. All WS6 cars came with 17" polished aluminum wheels. If your center caps say "ABS", then you've got the base model Trans Am wheels. If they're the WS6 wheels, then the center caps say "WS6".

None of the T/A convertibles had the Trans Am coupe's deck lid spoiler. All convertibles came with the deck lid spoiler similar in appearance to the base Firebird/Formula model. It's not an exact match to the base Firebird/Formula spoiler though due to the convertible top. The coupe window cuts back into it farther than the convertible top.

Though it's hard to tell in the photo, it appears that the hood is an aftermarket version. The edges of the "nostrils" on the indentation appear to be very crisp on your hood. On the factory Ram Air hood, the edges were softer.

I also don't see the "Ram Air" decals, but they could have been removed (or the glare in the photo is hiding them)

Yep, 339 WS6 T/A converts in '98, and those 2 obscure WS6 Formula 'verts (the only 2 Formula 'verts built that year).

Only way to tell a true WS6 is check the RPO code list on the driver's door decal, or run the VIN through the dealer's computer to get the RPO listing for your car. If no WS6 in the RPO list, not a real WS6.

ALL V8 Firebirds will have WS9, because ALL V8 Firebirds are "Formulas". T/A is just an appearance option on a Formula.

ALL 4th gen Firebird 'verts have that low, Firbird / Formula style spoiler on the rear. ALL LS1 T/A COUPES have the uplevel spoiler (this was optional on early T/As, '93-'95s IIRC, became standard equipment on T/As by '97). Firehawks w/ their optional unique spoilers are obvious exceptions.

"WS6" doesn't have anything to do w/ the spoiler on the rear. WS6 Formulas will NOT have the uplevel spoiler like on a T/A.
