Default 98-00 firebird formula

I know this has prolly been asked about a thousand times but what should a stock automatic LS1 firebird formula run in the 1/4 mile...same question about a non WS6 trans am...they should be about the same right?...I am thinking about purchasing one of these vehicles. thanx

probably high 13s. trans am and formula would run the same, since a trans am is just a formula with a spoiler, ground effects, and more standard options. if anything, a formula would have a slight edge over a trans am since it weighs a little bit less. not enough of a difference that you would be able to notice though.

oh yeah, also depends on the type of gear ratio it has. standard for a V8 auto is 2.73, optional is 3.23.

Stock trans am a4 with 2.73's 14.4 at 2500 elevation. Thats equivalent to high 13's at sea level. Stupid elevation! I think she's got about 2-3 tenths more I can squeeze out of it.

I have a stock 99 A4 Formula with 3.23 gearing and I raced a 98-02 M6 Trans Am WS6 from a roll, he had the jump, and we were pretty much dead even until 120+mph, when he started to very slowly walk away. Hope this helps your understanding in how close the Formula, Trans Am and WS6 are in performance. It all pretty much comes down to body style preference.

Gearing is going to make a difference of a couple tenths.

A 2.73 geared car will run 13.7-13.8

A 3.23 geared car will run 13.5-13.6

I ran 13.509 @ 102.5 with my 3.23 geared '99 Trans Am A4

When my 'bird was stock with the 2.73 gears, it would run 13.70's all day long
