Default What motor does the non WS6 Trans Am have?

I don't know too much about the Firebird/Trans Ams although I like em alot...I assume that the Firebird is the one that has less of a body-kit, and I know the WS6 is the one with the RamAir hood with the more aggresive body-kit (I know the Firehawk also has a RamAir hood), and the WS6 has a LS1? What motor does the Trans Am that looks exactly like the WS6 without the RamAir hood have in it? And what is the HP/Tq difference? Thanks!

The only difference in the T/A and WS6 is the hood, suspension, and air lid. The performance from the factory was said to be 10 more HP in the WS6 but most people if not all on here like me will tell you there is no difference in the HP. Even at that I have driven plenty of WS6s, T/As, Z28s and SS cars and to me they all are too close to tell a difference.

Thank you! I have always wondered that. Thought maybe the WS6s had LS1s and the non RamAir hooded ones had a 305 or somethin, but I didn't think GM put any 305 in performance cars anymore! Thanks again!

You could even get the base looking firebird with the LS1 its called a formula. I used to have a 305 TBI and jumped to the ls1 and am very thankful GM took the 305 out back and put it out of its misery. Stock for stock my new car makes twice the HP and still has better gas mileage. Technology is a good thing. I always liked the monte SS in the 80s esp in black. I rarely see anymore around though and hardly ever in good shape.
