How much is this 2nd Gen worth??
Hey, my dad has a 1980 Trans Am and im wondering about how much is it worth he has the original engine but swapped a 400 in it. The body and everything is in good condition really no rust it only has 58,000 miles on it.
And did I mention its a Y84 (Bandit Style) and
it has the 4BBL Turbo 4.9L and virtually every option.
Ive been looking on EBAY and ive seen some Turbo ones go for decent but Ive never seen a Y84 Turbocharged on there yet.
Any ideas you 2nd gen guys???

Well honestly man you have to put a picture up we can't really estimate until we see some photos of the car. There are many things that can determine the value of the car. Post some pics up and it will make our job way easier. Thanks

Well the car is in primer right now, but the body is in good condition I cant get any pics of it because my dad lives about 2hrs away. Although a few weeks ago somebody offered him 15,000 for it I think hes stupid for not selling it he coulve went and bought 2 more 2nd gens for that!

A Y84 Special Edition 80-81 Car would have either a 301 Turbo or a 301 engine. Not really ultra rare, but a nice car for looks. Pricing depends on condition, but 2nd gens are starting to get better money. My boss has an 80 model special edition with the turbo engine and 17,000 miles, all original and in great shape. I'd say $25-30K would buy that car.

its not THAT rare of a car....not the most desirable year, engine, etc. $15,000 for current primered condition, though, is insane. i would have delivered it to the guys house with a bow on it for that much. you need to post pics to get any kind of price from here.

Yea I would've sold it for 15k in a split second then there would have been an LS1 sitting in my garage the next day but its not my car. Yea the 301 is more usefull for a boat anchor really thats why we swapped the 400 in.
This summer me and my dad are putting a '72 455 H.O in it with Forged Domed pistons giving it a 12:5:1 compression ratio even with the 7F6 Round port heads, a huge cam around .650 lift, Torker II, holley 850 DP, Nitrous not sure what set up yet, hooker headers which are 500 Smacks because of the round port heads, and a few other goodies. When it was built several years ago it was rated at 600HP with a single Four barrel. YOWSA!!!
