Default 2002 SOM WS6 M6 worth it???

$17,800

I'm looking to buy a som ws6 trans am...I have found one I like but needs attention....It has 62K miles on it.

Has a few mods like SLP lid, tints, short throw shifter, HD rebuilt T56 and new clutch.....

It needs:

1) Front bumper- cracked/broken and severly scratched up. Front bumper would need to be replaced.
2) Ses light (smog pump was taken out due to bearing noise he said)pump would need to be repalced so I can pass IL inspection and drive daily without that light on.
3) Passanger window- regulator bad? Seller tells me that it needs to be aligned on the track...???
4) Tires- BALD need to be replaced asap to get back home safely (car is in TX and I live in IL.
5) rear dents/dings on panels, No big deal, kinda expected with the higher mileage...

But it is a badass car since its a som ws6! I just don't know if $17,800 is a fair price for this car or not since it needs stuff...

I've seen a few som ws6 cars on autotrader for low 20's but they have way less mileage and are cleaner....

Should I get this car or be patient and save up more $$$ and get one that is cleaner???....

if it had about 40,000 miles than id say its worth it, but for that price, def not. maybe if it had a s/c on it for that price, but the car seems to be just poorly taken care of. it has a fucked up front bumper, bald tires that wont even last another 1000 miles, and chips and dings, check engine lights on, and the window doesnt work?????? ndef not worth it. now i think of it thats probly wortth eveen less. you can find something way way way better for that price.

I agree with Anrchy. Sounds like it is in pretty rough shape with a lot of miles on it for that price.

The window still works you just have to "guide" it down for the first few inches...but yes the tires are so bald the cords are exposed...

I don't want to show the pics and **** off the owner trying to sell it... but it is currently in the for sale section thats all I will say

I did drive the car and I did like the way it drove...steering was tight, trans felt great....but all I can afford for it and what I also felt was fair was $16,500 To get everything fixed on it the right way I would be looking close to $2K

Does anyone think $16.5K was a lowball offer???

If you want SOM, I would hold out to find what you are looking for. I would wait until you find the right combination of options and condition in SOM, then buy. Unless you can talk this car down for cheep, I would pass. It sounds like it needs a lot of work and I would be concerned what else is wrong with it.
I looked for over a year before I bought mine.

yeah dude. i got my NBM ws6 for 16000 and it only had 9500 on the clock. i talked him down from 19000. it has everything. i waited till i found what i was looking for. i knew i wanted blue, and i looked at a bunch of cars that werent blue and very nice, and very cheap. i found this one as i was about to give up my search, i have been happy ever since. i would wait untill you find the one you feel best with. you will know, follow your gut.

One there is no track on the windows in these cars. Two the dents in the pails are probally because he has beat on it and the dimples develop and the tires are bald. If you could get it for around 12-13 otherwise I would pass...

Absolutely not worth it with all those issues.

This is more like it - but I would try to get him down another $1 - $1.5k.

the SOM WS.6 is a badass ride. basically an orgasm on wheels. it sounds like this things been driven pretty damn hard though. bald tires, new clutch, wrecked front bumper? cmon now, cant do all that without chewing up the motor a little. personally, id wait it out and try to find something like it in better shape. when i got my car i had to replace a few things and when all was said and done i had spent almost two more Gs on top of what i paid for the car.

For that money you could get a vette and still have some left over. For 23k I would expect under 20k miles and the car to be in perfect condition.
