The car is reported to cost in the 6 figures, so forget it. Also I think they are making only 50.

BTW the 455 wasn't available in 69. It started in 1970 in the gto and in 71 in the bird

They have an article in last months Hot Rod Magazine. They have 3 basic versions of engine/drivetrain combos. Year One had one on display during the Hot Rod Power tour. It looked nice, but I wouldn't pay 6 figures for it.

if it was on display on the hot rod power tour racine WI, i missed it in all the rain (teehee) i do know 69 birds only came with a 350 or 400. however i was in love with the 455. pontiac motors being the same size i dropped a 455 in my 74 gto , painted 89 corvette red with centerline mags. when i got divorced the ex wanted it n my lawyer said not to fight or it will cost big bucks. what do you do? hey i still have a bunch of high perf pontiac magazines in my basement. is nunzie (?) still the guru of n/a super fast pontiacs? see ya!

Zoiks! A 455 in a '74 GTO?? That must have been a wild ride. I know the '74s don't get much respect from the GTO crowd, but if I was going to own a X-body (Nova / Ventura / Apollo / Omega), the '74 GTO w/ a shaker hood would have been THE #1 choice! And I would do the same thing as you (455 transplant). Ex wives SUCK! I've had to pay my ex's more $$ for my '68 Cutlass than I have actual cash invested in the car, but at least I still have the car.

I spoke with Edgar w/Year one a couple of months ago about them. I thought they would "start" around 60K and I was seriously going to do whatever necessary to get one.But all that changed when Edgar informed me they "started" at $159,900. Yeah, No Thanks.

Who in their right mind would pay six figures for a late seventies T/A? I don't care how much you do it, you'd still have to be completely out of your mind. I'm sure you could built your own for less than half that. 1500 hours at a generous $20.00 per hour (for which I'm sure you could hire a guy for a YEAR to built you one) comes out to $30k, leaving, oh $80k plus for parts, and $4k for the car. What a dumb car once you figure the price.
