Default 98 Ram Air question Is this car worth Buying?

I looked at a 98 Ram Air today with 54k miles. I noticed that the A/C was not working and found the compressor locked up. I also noticed that the oil Diptube was gone and there was a small amount of oil leaking. The car started and ran well. The car was apparently in a accident and repaired. Both air bags was deployed. The passenger fender needed another coat of clear coat. They had the car for 4 years and didnt know when the dip tube came up missing. They wanted 8900.00 for it. I think it is too much for the car. What does any one else think? Is the Diptube gone such a big deal and could it be driven a distance to get it repaired or would all the oil leak out? He also has new airbags and sensor for the car but has not been installed. Thanks for any advice.

My opinion is that is way overpriced for a salvaged title car. (airbags deployed usually mean salvaged title, some insurance carries will not insure any more than liability on these). But look around on the msg board, you should be able to find a better deal than that no poblem!! Welcome to LS1Tech

Mine was a theft recovery (salvage title) with hardly any cosmetic damage, it had 43,000 on it and was fixed right. I didnt have to do anything to it but get in and drive it. Owner provided before pics and explained everything in great detail and 2 1/2 yrs ago I only paid $7800 for it.
Yours sounds way high to me as well.
Progressive will put full coverage on a Salvage Vehicle as long as it has been through the state inspectors and verified "rebuilt"

8900 is a lot for that car, and the air bags need to be installed? Trust me that job is long and a pta.

$8900 seems a bit expensive for a car that has been wrecked and has those issues. You should be able to find better 98's for that money.

dont buy it. a stock ls1 with over 130k miles would probably be a better deal than a 45k mile car that has been jumped dukes of hazard style and then parked to forget about the damage

I'd say stay away from it. I bought my 2000 WS-6 with 62k on it over a year ago for only 8k. No mechanical issues whatsoever, there were a few scratches at the time, i think 2-3. There are many good deals out there, I'd say to continue your search
