I'd imagine you've made sure the engine will fit. I know I've heard of some people putting Old's 455 engines in their 2nd gen TA. So I'd try to search the web. Though I can't picture you will should you need the dimensions of an Old's engine let me know. I have a 350 (very similar in size to a big block, so I'm told) I'm putting in a street rod and my uncle has a race prepped 455 in his garage which I can get dimensions from.

FYI- they put the 403 olds in 2nd gen T/As, and the mounts and stuff should fit just fine. I believe the 403 and 455 use the same motor mounts/etc.

My block was dropped off at the shop the other day.

SBOs (330, 350, 403) have shorter deck heights than BBOs (400, 425, 455). So while the 455 block will bolt right in place of a 403 (engine mounts and trans), the longer stroke of the BBOs place the heads higher, so headers will need to be different. Also, the carb will sit higher than a 403 so the shaker air cleaner will need to be modified to work w/ the stock hood. Although a "tucked" Toro intake manifold may offset that. Watch out for clearance between valve covers and brake vacuum booster as well.

its a easy swap, just finding parts. i used to have 455's in a lot of cars years ago. even a 403 in a 3'rd gen (my screen name stuck) just use a good radiator and starter, they get warm !!! good luck with 500 lbs. of torque
