Car not running up to expectations
This past saturday I ran my 2000 trans am at the local dragstrip and I was thinking my car would run in the min 12s. It has a cam, LS6, intake, and all the supporting mods, full true dual exhaust and was tuned by vengeance. The lowest time that I saw was 13.1 which was not what I expected. The car made 372hp on the dyno before the LS6 intake so figure around 385-390 rwhp. The only thing that I could think of was that before I got to the track I was low on fuel so I filled it half up. It wasnt until I was almost done that I realized that I was using regular instead of premium...would this make a significant difference. If anyone knows I would be very appreciative if you would share.

Its a six speed...no slicks or drs...not on that piece of s**t 10 bolt. Got lower control arms to reduce wheel hop. I even had one on my friends drive it and he is one of the best Ive see. Cut 0.00-0.09 reaction times consistently and his shifts are godly. Still only a 13.11 @111

what rpm are you launching at? Any wheelspin during the run? Also what rear end gears do you have. Have you ever run anything else at the track, sometimes we get our expectations hurt by over assuming without any prior experience (no offense). Can you post the timeslip numbers. And is this place elevated? If there is any elevation that will also slow you down, for instance I used to live in maryland where typical fourth gen "mostly stock" f-bodies would run mid to low 13's. Some of the ws6's and ss's would hit 12.99. Now over here in vegas at 2600ish elevation those same cars would be happy to run a 13.99. I had a 2000 T/a with a volant cold air, ported throttle body, cat back exhaust, cutout, and a hypertech programmer and I would run 14.2's all night long. It sucked because I know back at sea level I would see at least 13.6

Play with the launch RPM, get a good clutch if you don't already have one, subframe connectors, and a set of drag radials. Even with just a set of drag radials you should be in the high 12's.

Ok the gears are 3.73s. There is hardly any elevation...fairly close to sea level. I was launching at 1500 and the only time I had severe wheel spin was when I launched a little higher. I spun all the way through 1st

A trap speed of 111 is indicative of a low 12 sec et. I have gone 12.07 at 113
The problem with your car could be many things, but what jumps right out at me is your 60 foot time. To get the above listed et I was on drag radials and my short time was 1.8 something, still not great.
Work on your traction and then come back and tell us what it does.

Reaction doesnt mean **** for your times. Your 60fts are awful, which is killing your time considerably. But what concerns me most of all, is that your cammed 6 spd car is only trapping 111? For comparison, while lid only, my car went 12.9s@108-109, on 2.0 60fts. That was on street tires. It was making 321/331 at the time.
After some bolt-ons and while making 354/373, it went 12.30s@113. That was with 1.8xx 60fts on Nittos.
I agree that the fuel would slow you down some but not all the way to where your at. Keep us posted, and good luck getting to the bottom of it.

I dont understand why his car which is making so much more power trapped the same speeds as mine. I think his should be trapping 114-116.
