Default Muffler reccomendations for a V6?

my 01 v6 has an aftermarket mufflet that at first i didnt like as it sounded a little too loud but after getting used to it i kinda liked it. Well now it has a big slit in one of the seams so sounds horrible.

What are my options? a standard muffler from Midas is $142 with a lifetime warranty. Will that still have dual outlets as i've seen some cars with a single and dont like the look.

Also is the stock muffler very restrictive?

I see there are many threads for V8 exhausts but what about the little old V6, any advice?

thanks

honestly... don't waste your time or bother. you won;t get performance.. all you'll get is annoying ricey noise.

if you want dual outlets buy an OEM T/A muffler.

I'd just go with Stock, you're not going to get much performance from either. I'm not trying to sound rude, but performance along what lines?

Yea I don't think you'll out-flow the stock V8 muffler with your 6cyl You probably won't see any difference in performance between whatever you have now, and that stock one.

I think the stock V6 muffler has a single outlet, does the stock T/A muffler have dual outlets and just come as the muffler without the outlet pipes? If so does anyone know the size?.

My current system looks to have a 2.25" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets each with a twin tip on, i think its called a crossflow. It looks like the twin outlets were welded onto the muffler so i assume i can reuse them. The inlet is welded too but it shouldnt be a problem to cut it off and reweld it.
Thanks

A guy that owns a local muffler/hot rod shop put a 3" exhaust on my '01 V-6 that sounded real nice. It still wasn't a V-8 sound but was more than you get from bolting up a cat back. He cut off a piece about 2 feet long that necks down after the CAT, but before where you would just bolt up a cat-back. And welded the 3" right to the CAT. He handed me the 2 foot pipe that he cut off, and it necked down to about 1 inch, maybe inch and half, after the CAT. No ****. He mandrel bent everything and tucked it up real nice. Later I found the WS6 I have now and the guy who test drove my trade in was really impressed with the response and sound. But it still wasn't a V-8. And looking back, I should have just traded sooner.

my girlfriends 3.4 v6 sounds ******* awesome, better than any v6 i've ever heard with a flowmaster, center exit exhaust, but it drones too much for her so we might go w/ a magnaflow
