New guy cant decide on which one
New to Birds and your site
I sold my LT1 Vette few years ago, I now married and have a Kid so a Vette cannot hold the family, Anyways I need a new sports car with some power.
A WS6 M6 96-2002 would be nice, I have a new GMC 07 truck with the 5.3 3.73 posi and Im quite happy with its power. my Cash is limited because
we have a 05 Grand prix GT too.
I have found a 97 TA LT1 auto mint one owner 48k miles for 7500 55year old owner.
a 99 formula LS1 Auto 66k miles for 7000 40 year old owner
a 97 TA convertible 7000
99 TA Ls1 auto convertible 94k miles around 9500
after spending time on your site I see the LS1 is highly favored
I did drive a 99 LS1 M6 Vette and was impressed.
seems like clean Low mile 60k mile Ls1 m6 TA's or Formula's are pricey.
right now the most bang for the buck is the Formula
7000 LS1,auto , T tops, leather, and power everything

yea i think the ls1 is the way to go but when you start dealing with lower miles just remember that alot of mechanical parts havent started becoming a problem yet so dont let the miles affect your desision. why can you have a bird with a kid but not a corvette?

sometimes I think the 96-97 TA's have a clean appearance and with a lower front spoiler they look even better. but I would have to replace that distributor with the MSD one, and live with the lesser power. on the other hand the formula ls1 is a sleeper because it looks like a V6 bird

all your lt and ls formula's have the v6 body unless you get into the ws6 style or firehawk. if your lookin for the speed and the fluffy ls1 body style then thats you or if you like the big spoiler and sleek front end of a lt1 trans am. i like the trans am best of all. if i was in your spot i would look into the bird for 7k its hard to find an ls1 that cheap.also imo i found that sticking with all acdelco products works best. oil filter, ignition control mod,coil,opti-spark(pain in the ***) things of that nature.

Boat anchors, huh?
If that's your only criteria then I guess you write off all the 60s and 70s muscle cars too, as undesireable.
Don't be so narrow-minded. There are some very nice and fast LT1 cars out there.
Peace.

Hey - this is LS1tech! I'm not narrowminded my 85 is a boat anchor. I've driven my share of LT1s and I'm sure yours is nice. I actually like the 93-97 TA front end better than the 98+ sleek beaks. Motorwise - IMHO, they don't compare to their 98+ LS1 counterparts (in stock form at least).

The car was KNOWN which means I ended up being targeted by local and state police. Im getting older and think I can control myself now.
when I was in my 20's All I could think about was Pedal to the metal.
I was so bad I had police scanner built under the dash which made getting away much easier, but It still got put on a Rollback twice.
here is the old toy http://performanceboats.net/images/vette1a.jpg
I had a 400 small block and a rock crusher put in, I replaced the control arm bushing and sway bars with poly. heavy duty motor mounts, Hooker headers.
took them off later because of the cops and the piles of noise tickets. Seen here without them. http://performanceboats.net/images/vette2.jpg
new vette's and TA's handle so much better then the old ones. take lots of money to get an one to even come close.

ws6 means u have a hood, not worth the extra money over the formula or the T/A! Formula is a car u must want because the style is different, but everything is just a body panel from being the same car. Go with the lowest miles and best price! Also look at the options on the car and pick which ones fit u best! 6 speed / auto look at the important stuff and the ls1 will never have half the problems the lt1 will face, and the cost to repair is much much much cheaper.

I still have a chance to buy 99 formula Auto with 67k for 7000 cash
its stock untouched or 2000 TA auto70k miles stock for 10k
I found a 37k mile TA convertible for 13k
The hardest thing to find is a WS6 6sp convertible with decent milage and a price I can afford Im pretty much capped at 13000.00

I just found another one a 2001 WS6 convertible Auto
its very close to mint @ 69000 miles is 14000.00 a good price?
I looked at 2 other ones a 2000 TA convertible 100k miles 9500.00 was kinda dirty only in fair to good condition don't want this one .
A 2000 TA WS6 clone convertible in good shape mileage is incorrect unknown 9200.00
I'm thinking on just going with the 2001 I have giving up on finding a 6 spd ws6 kinda of rare in my price range.

I agree there with that is the very best Bang for the buck it a teal color
which isn't my bag,
The other car is Midnight blue which I love and its a convertible it's a real
WS6 granted it twice the $
I see TA's all the time I don't see real convertible Ws6's very often
I know I could do a lot with the other 7,000 dollars.
