Default HID headlights?

I have a 2001 WS6 pontiac Firebird Trans-am. It has regular headlights but I want to change both the Low & High beam over to HID Headlights....problem is I don't know how to go about doing this. None of the local stores are any help I'm hoping someone here can help.

Search in the Stickies, this has been covered more times than I can count. Tons of good info for a jumping off point in there.

Hmm...after reading up on HIDs it sounds like they aren't that great or safe for that matter for the other drivers on the road.

The owners manual to my TA says the standard bulbs are H4703 for the low & H4701 for the high.

I would like safe but better lighting headlights any suggestions or am I better off with just standard bulbs?

If you want HID, the best route is to go custom with projectors.

If you want a simple upgrade you can upgrade the headlight capsule's and use H7 bulbs. Thats the route I took.

I tried that initially first, but it didn't end up all that well. I talk about it in the Conversion Housings section of the Lighting FAQ.

Well I decided to get the Sylvania Xtravision H4703XV & H4701XV headlights. Got em & put them on just this evening. They give me just the amount of boost I was looking for. Thanks for the help everybody.
