Trans am security light Occasionally when I try to start the car the security light comes on and I cant start it. After waiting a while it went off, and it doesn't happen every time. Anybody have an idea what this could be? Its a '98 m6 Trans am. Thanks.

Mine does that too. Not often though. My friend at the local GM dealership said the ignition cylinder is going out. I plan on swapping out to an automatic and thinking about doing a push button start on in.

There is a wire on the ignition that reads the key. You have to take the colume apart and look for a yellow wire. I just fixed mine. Had the same problem for years. It gets worse and on my friends car broke with no warning.
