Default DOD question

I'm wondering when the DOD activates because it's really seamless. When I drive on the interstate I didn't know if it would be best to have cruise on, but I don't a lot. I can go faster and follow the flow of traffic without it but if I get tired I flip it on. Does that hinder the DOD? Does it activate at lower speeds? Any info on the system would be nice. I wanna milk the most mpg possible. Getting around 20 mpg average now with about 40-60% city/highway miles.

DOD is very throttle sensitive and load sensitive. Most find best MPGs not using cruise as they can coast or increase speed to get a run on hills so it stays in DOD.

When you are starting your car, you can access the engineering mode to see when the DOD is on. Hold down the left scroll wheel, put your key in the ignition and start the car. You can scroll through the options on the DIC on the dash. And it will show you when it is active.

You must be stock, because as soon as you do anything like a CAI or exhaust you will hear/feel it.

Yeah I've had the car for only a week and I will probably stay stock. I may buy an HPT sometime for both the T/A and the G8 to tune to mileage. T/A performance. lol And I don't have a DIC in my dash. I was wondering what needed to be there option-wise to get that. The GXP I saw at the dealership didn't have it either. It's just a little nook that sucks to put things there because it falls out. lol

You mean the Atari Gauges I think. The DIC is the display is right in front of you to the left of the speedo.

Anyways you can get a reprogrammed Atari Gauge that will mount right in there. They are pretty nice. Just Google "reporgrammed atari gauge" without the quotes and including the incorrect spelling. It's the first link.

Displacement on Demand if im not mistaken! It's when your 8 banger, becomes a 4 banger, while cruising it activates.

But I saw that the interior shot in the Pontiac book at the dealer had it in it.

Only the 08s have the atari guages, its just a cubby hole on the 09s.

The DIC is between the speedo and tach.

Was the DIC not on the '08s? Or do they just win the big prize?

The 08 has the DIC and the "Atari" Gauges. They eliminated the Atari Gauges in the 09, but you can add them back with a better reprogrammed display like I said if you wanted.

I don't think the GXP has DOD.

The DIC was not optional on these cars...you have to have it. Depending on what you have it set at, mine shows my speed in normal mode. It's also where you access your tire pressure monitors to see how the tire pressure is doing. I are likely staring right at it. But I have an 08....maybe it's different on an 09??

My '09 has the DIC right in the middle of gauges. Good stuff.

And no the GXP does not have DOD.
