If you have owned a G8 and a new Mustang you are in the minority here. There's no question that the new Mustang is faster, that's obvious, it's just when a slower car has a good run against a faster car, the clueless and naysayers come out of the woodwork to make excuses for the faster car when they should be at the very least be praising the driver of the slower car for hanging in there. The truth is that for the most part the majority of what they say is nothing more than what they've heard someone else say. That's part of the reason that after being on here since 2001, I post very little, although there are times that I can't help myself. I love the new Mustang and I am glad Ford finally got it right. I also smoked one the other day... but I wasn't driving the G8.

the Stanger is a piece of junk and the G8 is the greatest thing since peanut butter and jelly. Whether its stock vs stock, or equally modded cars, the new Stanger will beat a G8 95% percent of the time.

No one is doubting he had a good run but his comments make it sound like

I put the converter in Saturday night. Ready to give it another go, with your bottle turned off?
PS.
My G8 was fast for what was done to it. There are still only two bolt on-converter G8s that have gone faster. One of them was driven by a girl that I outweighed by at least 150lbs. And she went 12.15 to my 12.16. Hell, even Dave only beat me by .03 and I still insist that if the LSD hadn't died that day, he wouldn't have beaten me.

DRUGS beat me for that title. He went 12.13 to my 12.16
With longtubes, high flow cats, Xpipe, stall converter, CAI, Tune, front runners, and ET Streets. I also had an underdrive pulley.
Which was kinda my point, because to get my 5.0 auto to run the same times I needed: a tune.
That's it. I could, and did, run 12.teens with OEM tires. With drag radials, I easily beat those times. In worse air.

wanted a G8 for a long time - test drove 2 of them just could never pull the trigger on it.
Never thought I would look at a mustang but a tune and drag radials to run 11s - that is stout and more than enough for a fun street car

Ya ya there's always one. Anything can be fast but I gotta vouch for the other guy... most of the 5.0 jockeys in my neck of the woods are gun shy. Can't get 'em to bite on the G8. They should nut up and give it a shot sometime, not all of us are cammed up and ready to go
